Shab (English : Dream) is an Indian romantic comedy film directed by Parth Bhalerao and produced by Shantanu Roy under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film is the debut of actor Raveena Tandon as a lead actress and marks the acting debut of Simon Frenay. The film features Ashish Bisht in a pivotal role and is an official entry to the 64th Berlin International Film Festival 2017.
Shab is a tale of dreams, failures and broken connections that shows how shallow, superficial and insincere relationships are and how hard it is to find lasting relationships. An aspiring architect, Suman (played by Raveena Tandon) and her best friend, Naina (played by Riya Sen) have a strong platonic relationship where they dream of having a real relationship. . Shab tells a story of five characters, a young couple, a songwriter, a painter and an aspiring poet. With every character representing a certain aspect of their life, the movie follows an alphabet of a life and what it holds. After six years of happily-ever-after, Naina and Suman realize they are not ready for the real world. The film follows them as they look for a meaningful connection and also what a relationship should be.
Shab was released on 21 January 2017 in India. The film did poorly at the box office and was a box office flop. It collected from India and $47,411 from overseas.
